Aunt Peggy turned 50 so Aunt Carole planned a celebration. A surprise celebration. Family and friends all gathered at the Judge Cafe (downtown SLC, corner of 3rd South and Main, food SOOOOOOOO good) for dinner and a casino night. As we arrived we were given 'Bling' to wear all night. I chose a heart shaped 50 carat diamond ring and a feather boa. Charlotte got a boa and a ring pop (which was stolen for her by a crafty cousin) And Roland really embraced the idea of dressing the part. He chose a 'LAS VEGAS' transparent visor and some seriously big sunglasses, and several necklaces. All of which he never took off.
Carole sent some spies out to the street to help us with a heads up. Carole entrusted the phone to those at my table, we were to yell out when we got the call. Well about 5 minutes later the phone rang. We all yelled out to Carole without answering the phone. The crowd got excited and all moved to the front of the restuarant, the lights were turned off, all activity and conversation ceased. We waited, and waited, and waited. Someone said to call the lookouts. The frist one hadn't seen her yet but she was cold. The second was busy trying Carole's phone. Needless to say false alarm. When she finally did arrive I think she cried a little.
The party got on the way. The tables opened, Roland learned craps and I believe it is now his game of choice (if he gambled, right Shelly?) Roland stood at the table playing all night, 7 to 9:30. He didn't complain that his feet were tired but they had to be. Charlotte was a trooper and lasted to the end. Roland had so much fun that he was willing to go out the next night to another casino night that cousin Linsey was going to. I guess we now know how to entertain Roland.
