The Plumber's Apprentice

I love my house. Roland is ready to knock the entire house down. In the past 2 months we have replaced every faucet in our house. They just all started dripping all at once. Roland has spent much time in the plumbing repair isle at Lowes. This last weekend the drain in the basement bathroom kept backing up. Roland (at 8 pm on Saturday night) went down to see if he could find the blockage. He used a wire hanger down the p-trap and oops, the hanger went through the rusty old pipe. Lucky for us we had a spare p-trap from the last time we replaced one. Well, we are finding that plumbing fittings are NOT standard. The pipe was the wrong size for the drain. Well we ended up at Lowes 30 minutes before closing and choose a new sink. We are hoping to go home and attach everything and enjoy the rest of our Saturday night. But our house never makes anything that easy. Several trips to Lowes later and it is now Thursday the sink is not usable yet. Charlotte has stepped in to see if she can help. She worked on it with her Dad but even she left the project undone and head shaking.

by the time my kid reaches the age of 13 months, he or she will know how to install a P-trap. Of course, he/she will have to learn about p-traps from someone other than me, but these days you HAVE to know how to do these sorts of things.
